Tokyo Police Club show review at the Monolith Music Festival, September 14, 2008 at 3:00pm

Hello everybody,
3:00pm at the Monolith Music Festival had come and I anxiously awaited for one of the most energetic bands around to take the stage. I had seen Tokyo Police Club twice before and knew I was in for a great show.
Tokyo Police Club take the best elements of punk rock, mix in in a healthy dose of indie pop and finish the formula off with some incredible energy. This band does not waste time with complicated song structures. Instead, they attack each song with vigor and create some incredibly intense, but fun pop music.
They played a smart set as well. An early start time on Sunday meant not as long a set as a band this good deserves, so they did not waste time in between songs, allowing them to pump out a lot of tunes in a relatively short time. Their songs are pretty short anyway, so the audience was treated to a lot of stellar tracks from their catalog. The band absolutely shredded on Sixties Remake, got the crowd totally involved during Citizens of Tomorrow and delivered a rousing version of Tessellate.
What a great band, what a fun time! The crowd was really into things, with lots of singing along and pogoing. Tokyo Police Club have a grand career ahead of them. For you Arizona folks, they will be opening for indie heavyweights Weezer at the Arizona State Fair of all places on October 18. The Dust Devil highly recommends you being at that show!
There’s no way the day can get any better, right? Well, the best set of the weekend is next!
Cheers!
The Dust Devil
