Snowden show review at the Monolith Music Festival, September 14, 2008 at 2:45pm

Hello all,
The only thing wrong with the Snowden set was timing, for they began to play just before Tokyo Police Club, one of my favorite bands, so I had to leave the New Belgium stage early. Too bad, this is a great band!
Out of Atlanta, GA, Snowden take the Interpol formula of guitar work and rhythm, add in pulsating work on the drums and powerful bass lines. The music complements the lead singer’s almost spooky voice very well. There is a dark sort of feel to the music, but not in an ominous way. Rather, the mood of the music sets the tone for the intensity buried in each song.
Snowden had a great stage presence, delivered their tunes with definite force and in my opinion should have been a band with a later set during the day. This is a great band and I HIGHLY recommend their disc Anti-Anti, one of the discs I picked up during the weekend. The lead track Like Bullets is absolutely brutal and sets the tone for a sinister, yet danceable disc of stellar music. This is a band I would definitely see again, hopefully a trip to Arizona happens someday.
Well, on to the Esurance Main Stage next for Tokyo Police Club. Can it get any better?
Cheers!
The Dust Devil
