Jukebox the Ghost show review at the Monolith Music Festival September 14, 2008 at 1:00pm

Hello all,
Busy day, lots to see the second day of the Monolith Music Festival, so I made a point of arriving early on this day and right out of the gate was Jukebox the Ghost from Washington, D.C. on the WOXY.com Stage. One of many bands I had never heard of before, I was intrigued by what I listened to online from this three-piece outfit.
I like the fact that a lot of the good indie-pop bands today have a piano or organ player in the band, and Jukebox the Ghost plays by this formula. They do not overwhelm you with power, but instead draw you in with hooks galore in the music. This is a FUN band and their songs are a joy to listen to. Take the piano playing of Schroeder from the Peanuts series, add a guitar, drums and some crystal-clear vocals and you have a formula for some great pop music.
The crowd was definitely into the show and grew with each song. Good for the band, they deserved to be heard by as many people as possible. Even with the early time slot, they managed to garner a big following by the end of their set.
I picked up their disc Let Live and Let Ghosts once their set was done and was really impressed with the song structures and play. Personally, Good Day was the highlight of the set, a track driven along by the piano play and sing-a-long vocals. What a great band and a great way to get the second day of Monolith rolling!
Cheers!
