The Paperless Ticket Bandwagon

Paperless Ticketing has gained much popularity within the last year. AC/DC was one of the first bands to embrace the trend. When they announced the beginning of their 2008 tour, this was still a very new concept. The idea caught on quickly and it was very successful.

Miley Cyrus just recently rescheduled a concert (all tickets sold were paperless) and they did not have any problems. Concert goers, fans, parents and promoters were all happy. The process was smooth.

The Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia 76ers are also thinking about going paperless.

Cleveland Cavaliers have jumped on the bandwagon and are almost 100% paperless. Looks as though this will be a popular trend as team owners and artists try whatever means possible to control the ticketing process.

Some think this process is less complicated and that there are more benefits for the consumer. Many even claim its better for the environment, which I can understand! It has its pros and cons.

However, one big issue with paperless tickets is the inability to resell a ticket. If the ticket holder gets sick or can not make it to the event, it can be rather difficult to sell the tickets. Many paperless ticket programs do not allow resale and ticket must be sold back to the original source.

What do you think about this new trend?

Lenny Kravitz and his Let Love Rule Fall Tour

Although the Lenny Kravitz fall tour won’t be touching down in my town, I still want to show my support! Lenny will be touring in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his very first album, “Let Love Rule”. According to the tour schedule, he will be touring most of the east coast with 5 gigs in New York, 2 in New Jersey and of course this rocker is booked for the gigantic Voodoo Music Experience.

I actually wrote a post about this massive New Orleans Voodoo Music Festival a few weeks. If you have the means, or are in the area you must attend this two day event!

While checking the tour dates, memories of my very first concert came to mind. It was a music festival featuring a huge line-up of all my favorite bands at the time 311, Goo Goo Dolls, Lenny Kravitz and so many more. It hosted by local radio station and I clearly remember the tickets being dirt cheap and well worth it.

I was probably 13 or 14 and my mother had originally intended to take us, which I didn’t mind. But I ended up going with my little brother and my mother’s coworker, who happened to love all the bands and was much more into the music that my mother. It was kind of like having a big sister for the day!

We arrived at the show in the afternoon and stayed until the very last act. That last big act happened to be Lenny Kravitz. He was well worth the wait, because this man is one talented performer! He took the stage and instantly the lights flooded the venue (Peoria Sports Complex).

He performed all his hits and some new tunes, all very funky! Lenny was sporting his signature dreads. He ended the concert in true rock star form by smashing a beautiful guitar into his drummers set. The energy was spectacular from that moment, and I was instantly hooked! I can easily say that was the best artists I have ever seen.

Ticket News and Concert Announcements

Fame Kills: the Kanye West and Lady GaGa Tour Tickets are on sale now. There has been some speculation that this tour may not happen, after all the VMA drama. But all has been laid to rest. Dates have been announced through the beginning of 2010.

Slipknot and Deftones Team Up Oh, how I wish this tour was coming to my town! I had the opportunity to see Slipknot earlier this year and it was an out of this world experience. The Deftones just happen to be my favorite band! So, this tour might even be worth a road trip. The Deftones will not be touring with bassist Chi Cheng. In the fall of 2008 Chi was injured in a serious car accident and is still receiving treatment. NOTE: The Deftones will not be billed on the first two and last two shows. They will be supporting Slipknot.

KISS this

Over 35 dates have been scheduled for the upcoming KISS Alive/35 tour. This impressive line up will touch down in some of the biggest cities in the world. At the moment, the tour is only scheduled through the begining of December, but I hope more dates may be added in the future.

A definite highlight of this tour will be the band’s wild performance at Voodoo Experience in New Orleans City Park. This larger than life fall festival has been an annual tradition in New Orleans and will be an amazing event, no doubt!

There is no denying the power of KISS; the fans of this band are like none other. I have a feeling the success of band member Gene Simmons Reality show - “Family Jewels” has made the band even more popular than ever and exposed the KISS sound to an entirely new audience and generation.

This could very well be the last KISS tour of all time, so I highly suggest taking part in the spectacle! I have a feeling KISS has more than one surprise up their sleeves and they are known for being over the top and in your face during live performances.

The KISS Army will be in full effect! Official fan club members will also be privy to some serious goodies. Premium packages can include tour t-shirts, tickets in the front 12 rows, KISS guitar picks, KISS program and so much more.
