2009-2010 NHL Season Favorites

The NHL was established in 1917 and has grown to feature 30 teams. The NHL is unique, because it includes 6 teams that are located in Canada. Since hockey fever is in the air and the weather is getting chilly, I will give you my favorite teams for this season.

Atlantic
The Atlantic division has some serious completion this year. All of the teams in this division are very talented. It should be an amazing season with some heart-pumping action. The Pittsburg Penguins and New York Rangers are looking swell (Rangers Tickets to all games are now on sale too)!

Southeast
The Washington Capitals currently have 8 wins and only 2 losses. I am looking forward to watching them dominate the Southeast division. Hopefully the Tampa Bay Lightening will give them a run for their money this season. The Atlanta Thrashers should be making their mark as well and are always an entertaining team to watch.

Central
The Chicago Blackhawks are definitely one of my favorite teams in the entire league. I think it’s wonderful to see them on top this season! The Columbus Blue Jackets are trailing right behind them in the Central NHL division. The Central teams all have a very close record and there could be many upsets this season. Keep a close eye on these guys!

Pacific it’s going to a close call for teams in the Pacific division. They are currently neck and neck, with the strongest teams being the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks.

Northeast This division of the NHL is looking mighty fierce so far! Included in the Northeast are many of the Canadian hockey teams. Players and fans from Canada take hockey seriously and it is a way of life. The Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators are setting up the 2009-20010 nicely.

Northwest Here is another division ruled by mostly by the Canadian teams. The Colorado Avalanche are holding on strong to the top spot and have been playing very aggressive. In my opinion, their toughest competition this season will be Calgary. You don’t want to miss a game in this division and you can pick up Calgary Flames Tickets now!

PGA Tour Madness

Ok, I am definitely hooked on golf. I admit it, and I never thought I would say those words. But this PGA season has been filled with so much drama and excitement, its great!

I can clearly remember as a young child, spending time with my grandmother and being puzzled by her watching golf on television. I was bored to tears. Now, that I am a bit older, I am beginning to understand her love of golf.

It’s a relaxing sport really, with just enough heart racing action and close calls to keep me from dozing off. There is no tackling, unnecessary roughness or spitting. It is sophisticated and the scenery of the golf courses is stunning. The perfectly manicured green grounds, flowers and trees swaying in the wind make the sport very easy to watch.

I have been keeping a close eye on the PGA Tour this year and plan on giving you my take on some of the best players in the league at the moment.

Let’s start with Tiger Woods. This guy has reinvented the sport and is an absolute icon in the golfing industry. The beginning of this season was a little rough for him. Many said this wouldn’t be a shining season from him. He began this tour, fresh out of physical therapy. Tiger was forced to undergo knee surgery last year. The beginning the 2009 season looked bleak, however Tiger surprised everyone and is rocking it!

To be honest, it’s almost a little sad to watch these tournaments at times. Tiger Woods just leaves everyone in the dust! I am a fan, but I can’t be the only one waiting for his arch-nemesis to pop up out of the bushes and score a perfect Eagle on every hole.

Next in line is Steve Stricker. Steve has been competing in the PGA since 1990 and has won 7 PGA Tours. In my opinion, Steve is Tiger’s biggest threat this season and is a solid player.

Another PGA player you should keep your eye on is Jim Furyk. He is dedicated to the sport and extremely focused. Don’t be surprised if you see an awkward swing or some strange behavior from this player. He has an interesting and unconventional style all his own.

The PGA playoffs will be exciting this year and I am curious to see which records Tiger will shatter this season, and what the end standings will look like.

Biggest College Football Rivalries of All Time

Michigan & Ohio State This huge rivalry dates back to 1897, when Michigan spanked Ohio State with a 34-0 win! Ever since the first historic game, there has been bad blood between the teams. This makes for exceptionally entertaining college football!

Alabama & Auburn The Iron Bowl is an annual NCAA football game where the Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide collide. This game is often held on Thanksgiving weekend and is greatly anticipated by both teams. The rivalry began in 1893 after the very first match up between these two teams and pressure has been building ever since.

Texas & Oklahoma When the University of Texas Longhorns take on the University of Oklahoma Sooners it’s known to the world, as the Red River Rivalry. Many college football freaks consider this to be the ultimate rivalry. The history of the battle between these two teams began in 1900 and still holds strong today.

Notre Dame & Southern California Ever heard of the Jeweled Shillelagh? If not, no fear! The Jeweled Shillelagh is a trophy awarded to the winner of the Notre Dame and USC annual game. It’s definitely not the best looking trophy; however it has a story to tell. The Shillelagh is an Irish weapon that was made in Ireland and is decorated and presented to the winning team every year. The tradition of this trophy was started in 1952 and the rivalry between the two teams began in the winter of 1926. The champions also receive the highly sought after bragging rights.

Florida State & Florida These two teams battle for the Governor’s Cup aka  the Sunshine Showdown every year. Both of these teams are huge universities in Florida and strive to be coined the best! This rival features the Florida Gators versus the Florida State Seminoles. Even though this is not one of the oldest rivalries (it is rumored to have started in 1958), it certainly is one of the most popular.

Georgia Tech & Georgia It’s just “clean, old-fashioned hate”! This is the moniker given to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Georgia Bulldogs rivalry. These two institutions are only a few miles from each other, but the attitudes are far apart! Since 1893 the yellow jackets and bulldogs have been passionate about taking the competition under.

USC & UCLA Most often, the winner of the football game has won the Pac-10 Championship. This fierce rivalry is felt around Los Angeles leading up to the game. The week before the game both schools will often see a rise in school spirit and some seriously silly pranks take place!

Stanford & Cal State The first “Big Game” ever was in the spring of 1892 between Stanford University and Cal State Berkley. This game is usually held in November or December, annually and is always a fan favorite. Students gather for a bonfire and pep rally before the game.

ASU & University of Arizona Ahh, the Duel in the Desert! The fire is definitely burning in these two Arizona teams. Fans are always glued to their seats during this match up and this in state rivalry gets hotter every year!

Army & Navy The between the United States Military Academy and the United States Naval Academy, this rivalry has been going strong for almost 80 years. The Army versus Navy rivalry has always been a friendly one, however sometimes the mascots will play tricks on one another. This is always an exciting game to see live and it is broadcast every year.

Top 10 College Football Tickets Searches

Ever wonder how many people you’re competing with to find tickets to see to your favorite college football team in action? Wonder no more. I’ve compiled a nice little list of the Top 10 College Football Ticket Searches to give you a bird’s-eye view of just how many people are interested in purchasing tickets for big-name college football teams. All search volumes are estimated monthly totals as provided by the Google External Keyword Tool.

1. Alabama Football Tickets
Based on search volumes for June of 2009, “Alabama Football Tickets” was searched 12,100 times. Imagine how many people will be searching for Alabama vs LSU tickets later this season, and even more so should Alabama fans need SEC Championship tickets for another crack at Florida this year.

2. Ohio State Football Tickets
Buckeyes fans are some of the most avid ticket purchasers on the secondary market. No matter where they have to travel or who OSU is playing, Ohio State fans want to be there and will pay whatever it takes to get ‘er done. June searches for “Ohio State Football Tickets” are also estimated at 12,100 and I wouldn’t be surprised if the real number surpasses that of ‘bama’s numbers. Look for a high volume of Ohio State vs USC tickets searches early in the season.

3. Michigan Football Tickets
Some Spartans fans type this in when they’re looking for tickets only to find loads of sites offering Michigan Wolverines tickets. In some markets you have to be very specific about the team you are searching for to get the best results. “Michigan Football Tickets” searches were estimated at 9,900 in June, but Michigan vs Michigan State tickets is one of the most-popular searches for cross-town rivalries there is.

4. Penn State Football Tickets
The great state of Pennsylvania breads its own brand of football and football fans. It’s no surprise these are some of the most sought-after college football tickets around. I for one am looking for the Boilermakers to hand out a heaping helping of retribution to Iowa for the upset the Hawkeyes handed them late last season. I expect Penn State vs Iowa tickets to be in popular demand this year but not as popular as Penn State vs Ohio State tickets. “Penn State Football Tickets” searches were estimated at 9,900 in June.

5. Georgia Football Tickets
This one is a toss-up of late. Both Georgia and Georgia Tech have a solid football following, so this search might artificially point to the University of Georgia Bulldogs as the fifth-most-popular college football ticket search in June, at an estimated 8,100 searches. And speaking of which, be on the lookout for a high demand for Georgia Georgia Tech tickets this season.

6. Notre Dame Football Tickets
This one shouldn’t be a shocker. With poor performance and lots of staffing changes at America’s favorite catholic school demand for Fighting Irish football tickets is also down. Still, even when the boys are playing poorly they still have a strong enough alum to keep them in the Top 10 most popular college football ticket related searches each and every year. “Notre Dame Football Tickets” searches were also estimated at 8,100 in June. Notre Dame vs Navy tickets are always a big draw and you might want to buy Notre Dame vs USC tickets in the hopes that they can put together a surprising upset when the Trojans visit South Bend in December.

7. Auburn Football Tickets
With a good outlook for 2009 demand for Auburn Tigers football tickets is on the rise. “Auburn Football Tickets” makes the chart with an estimated 6,600 searches in June. There should be plenty of people searching for Auburn vs Alabama tickets as usual this season.

8. LSU Football Tickets
Now here’s a surprise. I’m always amazed how dominating this team can be without a higher search volume to back their popularity. “LSU Football Tickets” searches were estimated at 6,600 in June. Look for a high volume of “LSU vs Florida Tickets” searches again this season.

9. USC Football Tickets
Also amazing that more people are not excited about the upcoming USC football season. “USC Football Tickets” searches are estimated at 6,600 for June and should be much higher by now with them favored as the Pac 10 Champions… again. Expect to see a lot of people crying out for USC vs Ohio State tickets in early August and USC vs Cal tickets following that as the Bears are the biggest Pac-10 threat to the Trojans in ‘09.

10. Tennessee Football Tickets
Good ol’ Volunteers Football. Neyland Stadium is one of my personal picks for best stadiums to catch a college football game at. The fans are friendly, the football is phenomenal and the barbeque sauce is to die for! “Tennessee Football Tickets” searches are estimated at 5,400 in June and I bet Tennessee vs Florida tickets are going to be the biggest draw of the year.

Remember, for the biggest games of the year TickCo specializes in college football tickets for less than the other guys.

So what about you? What team do you search most when you’re looking for college football tickets, and what do you think will be the biggest regular season matchup in NCAA football this season?

Let Me Know,
