Paperless Ticketing has gained much popularity within the last year. AC/DC was one of the first bands to embrace the trend. When they announced the beginning of their 2008 tour, this was still a very new concept. The idea caught on quickly and it was very successful.
Miley Cyrus just recently rescheduled a concert (all tickets sold were paperless) and they did not have any problems. Concert goers, fans, parents and promoters were all happy. The process was smooth.
The Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia 76ers are also thinking about going paperless.
Cleveland Cavaliers have jumped on the bandwagon and are almost 100% paperless. Looks as though this will be a popular trend as team owners and artists try whatever means possible to control the ticketing process.
Some think this process is less complicated and that there are more benefits for the consumer. Many even claim its better for the environment, which I can understand! It has its pros and cons.
However, one big issue with paperless tickets is the inability to resell a ticket. If the ticket holder gets sick or can not make it to the event, it can be rather difficult to sell the tickets. Many paperless ticket programs do not allow resale and ticket must be sold back to the original source.
What do you think about this new trend?

So, you want to check out a Broadway play, but haven’t yet? I know it can seem a little intimidating getting into this scene. What to wear? Where to get theater tickets? Bring a date? I am going to give you a quick run down on the best current Broadway productions and some tips for those of you interested in theater.
1. Wicked this is an epic tale based on the wildly popular novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West”. Written originally by Gregor Maguire and produced by giant, Universal Pictures. I would highly recommend this Broadway adaption for all Wizard of Oz fans; however it may not be appropriate for young children due to strong graphic images and some violence.
2. The Lion King The Lion King film was a huge success for Disney and its no surprise this story was adapted into a musical format in 1997. The entire musical score was created by the one and only Sir Elton John. Masterpieces like “Circle of Life”, “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King”, “Hakuna Matata”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and many more are brought to life on stage. The Lion King is a visually stunning Broadway play for the entire family, great for new theater buffs as well.
3. Phantom of the Opera one of the all-time classics, this love story definitely pulls at the heart strings. It is guaranteed to bring out the true romantic in us all. Adapted by the talented Andrew Lloyd Webber, this is the longest running Broadway production in history. Phantom of the Opera is a true icon in American andFrench culture/literature. I would suggest taking your good friends or partner to this musical.
4. Jersey Boys this musical follows the career of popular 60’s band; The Four Seasons and Frankie Vallie This theater production has won a plethora of awards through the years and continues to dazzle crowds with the amazing rock-n-roll inspired sound track.
5. Cats another tale by Andrew Lloyd Webber, of the hard life of a cat in our modern world. It is adapted from the novel “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, written by T.S Elliot. Cats the musical is definitely made its mark in the Broadway world and is considered by many a cult classic. This theater production has traveled world wide for years. Currently, you can catch a Cats theater show in most major cities. I highly suggest this theater production for all kids, ages 5-99!
Theatermania and Playbill are excellent resources for up-to-date theater information, tickets, reviews, articles and Broadway tips. Set aside a budget for your tickets. The more popular shows will cost more, so keep that in mind.
Research the theater venue online, many times you will be able to find a dress code. It’s always a good idea to dress in semi-formal attire. Take the opportunity to get dolled up, it can’t hurt. Once the curtain falls, be sure to turn off all cell phones and electronic devices. Silence is golden!

So there’s a lot of news out there regarding Miley Cyrus’ move to paperless ticketing for her first non-Hannah Montana tour.
In summary, Cyrus is the first artist to try paperless tickets for an entire tour (every seat at every venue) and paperless tickets means that people will need to bring the credit card they purchased Cyrus tickets with them to the venue otherwise they will not be admitted.
Pro, having to have the credit card used at purchase to enter the event will make scalpers think twice before purchasing a Cyrus ticket with the pure intention of turning it around at a profit on the secondary market.
Con, how on Earth is she going to fill every seat in every venue with someone that owns a Visa card, especially in this credit crunch.
Pro, fewer scalpers flipping tickets on the secondary market means more fans paying less for tickets to attend a Miley Cyrus concert.
Con, more fans paying less for tickets to the show means less money pumping into the economy when we need it most. I hear Miley’s next single is titled, How I De-capitalized America.
A true fan is a true fan regardless of the amount of money they pay for a Miley Cyrus ticket, but fans that will pay what the market demands for a Miley Cyrus ticket also happen to be the people that are helping to keep America afloat right now.
Naturally attendance will be down across the board on this tour. If I’m sick and can’t sell my Cyrus ticket on eBay, that’s one more empty seat at the venue. What are the odds that not one in 32,000 fans will miss the show due to illness or scheduling conflicts?
Apparently Miley has decided to say, “Too bad sukka” in this case forcing many to eat the cost of their tickets if they cannot attend.
As with any of my pro-fair-market-value-for-tickets posts I have to throw a what-if? into the mix. What if my best friend’s brother passed away unexpectedly and his family didn’t have enough money to cover expenses. Maybe there were some layoffs and bad loans keeping money tight at this particular household and one more expense was not in the cards.
What if I told my best friend I had four Miley Cyrus concert tickets I could sell-off on StubHub that could probably help out? What if? What if Miley, anti-capitalist, Cyrus told me, “tough-luck, you can’t even get rid of your tickets at face value because I said so.”?
What if I told my best friend, “Jeez Bernard I would love to help you by selling-off the $2,000 worth of Miley Cyrus tickets I have here on my credit card, but I can’t.”?
You see when people say, “Miley Cyrus tickets should be affordable to everyone.” what they are really saying is “Damn it I love the girl but I’m just not willing to pay as much as the next guy to go see her.”
And when Miley Cyrus or government tries to step-in to regulate the price of a ticket on behalf of people that maybe don’t really want to go out and pay what the next person is willing to pay, that’s just putting a giant plug in a revenue stream that enables thousands of Americans to go out and help out their friends with things like funeral expenses, healthcare and a hot meal in times of distress.

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news/story?id=3967338&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines - Bristol is in jeopardy of ending their 53 consecutive sellout string. That means for the first time in 13 years Bristol is advertising tickets for the March 22, Food City 500 on their website!
This is the first time I can actually say, “you can try Bristol’s Official site for tickets.”
Be sure to drop by their site if you’re looking for tickets. Normally Bristol tickets are some of the toughest tickets to get and unless you know someone you have to get them on the secondary market.
Not the case this March. Shop for Food City 500 tickets at face value. If you have trouble there, we can hook you up with Food City 500 tickets at TickCo.com. Tickets starting at $94.00.
Save some dough, buy directly from Bristol!

It’s time to take the family to the ballpark. I see $5 MLB tickets all over the site today. I guess it’s because a lot of these teams are eliminated from the playoff race but what better time to take the family out to a game. Hell at $5 bucks a pop you can take the neighbors too.
Here are some quick links to teams with $5 tickets:

How are Blue Jays tickets not $5?

$10 Sunday by the Bay as the Giants host Pittsburgh http://www.tickco.com/schedule/san-francisco-giants/september-7-at-1-5-pm/
Remember, as teams exit the playoff race it’s a good time to find cheap MLB tickets. September is a great month to get a lot of people out to a bseball game at low prices. It’s one of those things where ticket brokers (scalpers to some) actually sell a lot of tickets below the face value just to get rid of them. Picking an unpopular oppnent and a game in the middle of the week will save you even more dough.
